Love the show for years now. I’m looking forward to here Maurice back on the show and i would like to ask you to give us,the listeners, an update on Maurice’s health.
I sure hope he’s doing fine because his story last time was very touching. It sure touched me because he was so open about it and about his darker periods. How did he cope to overcome?

Secondly i want to comment on your caller Steve with the idea on more local input and “eyeball” reports. I listen to your show on the other side of the planet with mostly “soupy” waves at best.
But wouldn’t you agree that your international listeners need something else?

email #2: Bassy Baldy: Here we were on the East Coast of England, expecting the ’50 year storm’, and it turns out that record low ice levels in the Arctic have screwed up all the computer generated surf forecasting models that NOAA puts out; Wave Watch III — for most of Northern Europe. Gutted! FROM A SURF FORECASTING SITE: The main swell model we use all use, the NOAA NWW3, calculates swell generation on the northern boundary of its domain, based on the latest sea ice data obtained from satellite scans. The sudden and rapid change in ice concentration over the last few days revealed an area of ocean for which there exists a significant numerical issue in the mathematics responsible for calculating south bound swell. The results were a seemingly endless series of unfeasibly long period swells propagating south into Northern Europe and beyond. To clarify, it wasn’t that the model was forecasting these swells as likely, BECAUSE of the lack of ice, but that the lack of the ice exposed a bug or error in the system that hadn’t appeared in testing with a broad range of historic conditions.
